Creating Your First Deck


A deck is a collection of flashcards about a single topic. You can have unlimited decks with a Plus subscription, or up to 5 decks on the free plan.


Creating a Deck

  • From the Dashboard or My Decks page, click "Create deck"
  • Enter a title (required) — keep it descriptive (e.g., "Organic Chemistry — Functional Groups")
  • Add an optional description for more context
  • Set the language if it's a language learning deck
  • Set a category for organization

  • Adding Cards

    You have three ways to add cards:


    AI Generation (Recommended)

    Click "Generate with AI" on your deck page. You can:

  • Type a topic and let AI create cards from scratch
  • Paste your notes for AI to extract flashcards from
  • Upload a PDF or Word document (Plus feature)
  • Paste a YouTube URL for video-to-flashcard conversion (Plus feature)
  • Upload a photo of notes or textbook pages (Plus feature)

  • Manual Creation

    Click "Add" to create cards one by one. Each card has:

  • Front (question or term) — required
  • Back (answer or definition) — required
  • Hint — shown before revealing the answer
  • Card type — Basic, Cloze, or Reversed

  • Import

    Click "Import" to bring in existing cards from:

  • CSV/TSV files — with front, back, hint, tags columns
  • Anki .apkg files (Plus feature)
  • Quizlet exports (Plus feature)

  • Deck Views

    Your deck has 4 viewing modes (toggle with icons at top):

  • List view — Simple scrollable list of cards
  • Table view — Spreadsheet-style with sorting and filtering
  • Concept Map — Visual clusters by topic
  • Editor — Split-pane with card list + full editor
