Study & Quiz Modes
FluentFlash offers multiple ways to study — standard flashcard review, 6 universal quiz types with 3 difficulty levels, language-specific quiz modes, and Fact Mode for passive review.
Standard Flashcard Study
The default study mode for all decks. See the front, flip to reveal the back, rate your recall (Again, Hard, Good, Easy). Uses FSRS scheduling for optimal review intervals.
Universal Quiz System
These quiz types work with any flashcard content — not just language cards. Start a quiz from the Quiz button on any deck page (requires 4+ cards).
Quiz Setup
Choose your quiz type, difficulty level, and question count (5, 10, 15, or 20 questions) before starting.
Free Quiz Types (3)
Multiple Choice — Pick the correct answer from 3-6 options. The number of options scales with difficulty.
True/False — Judge whether a statement about your card content is correct or a modified version.
Fill in the Blank — Type the missing word or phrase. Supports cloze cards natively. Answer matching uses fuzzy tolerance based on difficulty.
Plus Quiz Types (3)
Matching — Connect 4-6 term-definition pairs by dragging or tapping. Tests association and pattern recognition.
Short Answer — Type the full answer from memory. AI-powered grading handles synonyms and paraphrasing (e.g., "lincoln" matches "Abraham Lincoln").
Ordered List — Arrange items in the correct sequence. Great for processes, timelines, and ranked lists.

Language Learning Quiz Modes
These modes are designed specifically for vocabulary learning with the language widget:
Free (3 modes)

Fact Mode (Plus)
Passive study for reviewing without self-rating. Access it via the Browse button on your deck page.
Browse
Navigate cards one by one. Click or tap to reveal the back. Use arrow keys or swipe to move between cards.
Slideshow
Cards auto-advance at your chosen speed — 3, 5, 8, or 10 seconds per card. The front shows first, then the back reveals halfway through. Click Play/Pause to control.
Scroll
All cards displayed in a scrollable list with front and back visible. Great for scanning a deck and identifying knowledge gaps.
Fact Mode does not affect FSRS scheduling — it's purely passive review, perfect for initial exposure to new material.
