Yes! The free plan includes core flashcard features, FSRS scheduling, 5 AI generations per day, and 3 quiz types. No credit card required, no ads.
What makes FluentFlash different from Quizlet or Anki?
FluentFlash combines the best of both: Anki's scientifically-proven FSRS algorithm with a modern, easy-to-use interface and AI card generation. Unlike Quizlet, we never paywall core study features. Unlike Anki, we're beautiful and easy to use from day one.
Does FluentFlash work on mobile?
Yes. FluentFlash is a progressive web app that works on any device with a browser. On mobile, the sidebar navigation becomes a hamburger menu drawer, and deck actions are available through the overflow menu.
AI Generation
How accurate are AI-generated cards?
Very accurate for most subjects. The AI is powered by Claude and generates high-quality, atomic flashcards with citation tracking. Cards sourced from your notes show citation badges (e.g., "Source [3, 4]"), and AI-enriched cards display a confidence percentage. We recommend reviewing generated cards before studying — you can edit, regenerate, or remove any card.
Can I upload photos of my handwritten notes?
Yes! With Plus, you can upload photos of handwritten notes, textbook pages, whiteboards, and slides. The AI reads the image and generates flashcards.
How many cards can AI generate at once?
Choose from Quick (10-15), Thorough (25-40), or Deep Dive (50-100). You can also click "Generate More" to add additional cards.
What output types are available besides flashcards?
With Plus, you can generate study guides, cheat sheets, formula sheets, and custom-format outputs from the same source material. After generating flashcards, a study guide and cheat sheet are also auto-generated in the background.
Cards & Editing
Can I use rich text formatting in my cards?
Yes! The card editor supports bold, italic, bullet lists, numbered lists, inline code, and code blocks. There is a 2,000-character limit per field. All formatting is backward-compatible with older plain-text cards.
Is there a card preview while editing?
Yes. A live flashcard preview appears above the editor form. It updates as you type and you can click it to flip between front and back.
Studying
What is FSRS?
FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) is the most advanced spaced repetition algorithm. It schedules your reviews at optimal intervals for long-term memory retention, using 20-30% fewer reviews than older algorithms.
What quiz types are available?
There are 6 universal quiz types that work with any deck: Multiple Choice, True/False, and Fill in the Blank (free), plus Matching, Short Answer, and Ordered List (Plus). Each type has 3 difficulty levels (Easy, Medium, Hard) that adjust option count, hints, timers, and answer tolerance. There are also 8 language-specific quiz modes for vocabulary learning.
Can I study offline?
Offline study is planned for a future update. Currently, FluentFlash requires an internet connection.
Export
What export formats are supported?
CSV export is free for all users. Plus users can also export to PDF (printable 3x5 card layout), DOCX (Word/Google Docs compatible), JSON, and Markdown. Study guides and cheat sheets can also be downloaded as PDF or DOCX.
Where is the export button?
On desktop, the Export button is in the action bar on your deck page. On mobile, tap the "..." overflow menu to find it.
Account & Billing
What happens to my cards if I cancel Plus?
Your data is never deleted. After your subscription period ends, your account reverts to the free plan limits. You keep all your existing decks and cards but lose access to Plus features like unlimited AI generations, advanced quiz types, and PDF/DOCX export. If you re-subscribe later, everything is restored immediately.
Is there a data storage option after cancellation?
Yes. During cancellation, you can choose a data storage plan ($3/month) that preserves export-only access to your decks and study materials. If you cancel without the storage plan, your data is suspended (hidden but never deleted) and restored when you re-subscribe.
How does the referral program work?
Share your unique referral link with friends. When someone signs up through your link and subscribes, you earn a 20% commission. You can request a payout once your balance reaches $25. There are 6 reward tiers from Starter to Founder's Circle with increasing benefits.
